Inner Beauty and Outer Beauty are Complimentary

I know very well that I am not at all an attractive person when it comes to physical beauty. Most of my friends are quite good looking and during my school and college days, I often heard them boast of their good looks. Some of them even made fun of me for being short in stature and thin in the body. Time passed and today after so many years, I am proud to say that I am better placed than almost all of those friends of mine. They must have realized their mistake by now. You will also agree that judging a person’s character on the basis of his appearance is not at all right. Right goes the saying that appearances are often deceptive. A person must be evaluated on the basis of what he speaks and what he does. Someone who devotes all his time and energy in the service of humanity is gifted with a beautiful heart and it goes without saying that a beautiful heart houses beautiful soul and virtuous spirit. The inner beauty expresses itself through one’s humble behaviour, modest actions and noble thoughts. A man possessing sublime thoughts, virtuous character and elevated ideas deserves to be called beautiful from both within and without.

A tricky and debatable question is- “Who deserves to be called beautiful?”

Thinkers and scholars since times immemorial have tried their level best to answer this question but even today this question is one of the most discussed and debated one.

A slim and good looking model participating in a beauty contest is called beautiful by people only because she flaunts her body and shows her mental alertness. Does she really deserve to be called beautiful?

When he addresses a gathering of thousands of people on the occasion of an important ceremony, people praise him for his impressive speech and art of speaking. He receives a standing ovation because he has kept everyone spellbound by his captivating words. Long after he has gone, his effect is alive in the mind and heart of people. Can he be called beautiful?
