Someone has said, to be happy with a man you must understand him a lot and love him a little. To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all! Well, even if the above may or may not be true, what is true is that men and women are different species from the same planet, with a lot of difference in the way they think, analyse or do things! But it’s these differences that might help them build a stronger relationship with their own individual inputs. Still, sometimes it is seen that even the healthiest of relationships, start falling apart over a period of time. Why does that happen? Here are 7 factors that are responsible for driving a wedge, even in the best of relationships!

1 You stop communicating:

This is a sure-shot recipe for disaster. Communication is the key to a healthy relationship. It sometimes happens in over the years that a couple gets too busy with their respective lives, roles, jobs, and child-rearing, to remember to communicate with each other at a deeper level. You might still be communicating about household chores or routines, but that is not enough. Try sharing your dreams, problems, interests, and plans with each other which will help make the bond stronger.

2 There is more of ‘me’ than us:

A relationship is never about me. Yes, obviously you have to love yourself, keep your priorities straight, achieve your goals. But then you have to keep in mind your partner’s interest as well. When you become too selfish and cannot find a place for the other person to walk along with you, he or she will fall behind. Also, if you are always planning things or deciding things keeping in mind only what you want, not caring much about what the other person likes or dislikes, then also a crack is likely to develop, sooner or later.

3 Being unsupportive:

Now you need to support your partner to help fulfil their dreams. Sometimes your partner might be wanting to venture into a new business or try a new career. It’s always helpful if you are there for them, instead of going against them or their ideas. If you find something really off track you can always share your concern or give your advice, but being unsupportive just spoils things for the worse.

Money may not be everything, but its importance cannot be overlooked either. As a couple, you need to work together towards planning your future including your finances. If one person tends to spend too much money or not keep the current financial situation in mind while spending, then it might affect the couple’s overall financial planning. Also, not having enough money, loss of a job or debts are other financial aspects that can affect a healthy relationship.

5 Infidelity:

With so much exposure to different dating sites and social media platforms, cheating or infidelity has become too common. Sexting, going on dates, getting involved in a virtual affair or real one, are common problems affecting relationships these days, sometimes the effects of which can be irreversible. If you find yourself hiding things from your partner or getting attracted to other people, it’s time for you to introspect on what and where is going wrong.

6 Sex:

Sex and intimacy play a very important role in any couple’s life. To let sex go out of the window is not a good sign at all. If you find there is a lack of sex in your relationship or sex now seems like a chore, it's time to speak to each other about it, even if you might not feel comfortable about the same. You both can try different things like spending more intimate moments, increasing the level of affection, trying new sex positions and toys, try to bring that spice back into your sex life.

7 Stop spending time together:

Saddled with work and daily chores, many couples start finding themselves more as roommates than romantic partners. This can be really detrimental to your relationship. You need to make time for each other, where you can go out on a date, watch film together or even go to the pub or do things that you always loved doing together. You need to try to bring that passion and flame, back into your love life.
