He told Bravo TV, "It's important to stick to twice a week only so that you have plenty of time away from your new date to give your deepest feelings time to percolate up from your subconscious. "These deep feeling are important because they will help you see any issues or problems with your new love interest."

Unless you're incredibly lucky and/or have magical powers, finding someone you actually like enough to hang out with (and sleep with) regularly can be pretty hard. So, when you finally realise you actually, kinda, want to see someone again, knowing what to do next can be confusing af.

It's really easy when you're having great sex and a giant laugh, to fall into the routine of spending every waking hour with that person. But how healthy is that, really? Because while you're having a bloody good time, should you really be investing all this time (and probably neglecting your pals/family in the process) on someone you've just met?

While I've always been a firm believer in just doing what feels right, and going with it as long as you're happy, some people reckon that's probably a bad idea... Psychiatrist and author Scott Carroll says there is a rule as to how often you should hang out with someone new you're dating that you'd be wise to follow. He told Bravo TV, "It’s important to stick to twice a week only so that you have plenty of time away from your new date to give your deepest feelings time to percolate up from your subconscious. "These deep feeling are important because they will help you see any issues or problems with your new love interest." I mean, that does make sense if you want to be 'sensible' but what if you just want to go with the flow? He says hanging out with someone 'too much' at the beginning could cause one partner to get over-excited which could in turn, cause the other to freak out and break things off. "You don’t have to see someone daily, but seeing them at least once during the week and another night over the weekend keeps things moving forward," Carroll continues. And, seeing someone less than that can also have a negative effect he reckons."If you only see someone once every couple of weeks, it's almost like starting all over again from the beginning on each date." By all means follow this guy's advice, he is a psychiatrist after all. But with relationships it's often about your gut instinct, and what feels right for you.

How long should the talking stage last?

Most talking stages last several weeks to 2 months. The talking stage is when you're getting to know someone and aren't exclusive or in a relationship yet. To get out of the talking stage, ask your crush to hang out in person, open up about your past and beliefs, and tell them how you feel.

Turn your talking stage into a relationship by flirting, going on dates, and making your feelings clear You text your crush every day, regularly bump into them on the weekends, and know all about their favorite musician and go-to brunch spot. After weeks of talking, one question looms large: how long is this talking stage going to last before you start dating, or decide to call it quits? If you’re wondering where you and your crush stand and where the talking stage has you headed, we’ve got you covered! In this article, we’ll tell you all about the talking stage, how long it should last, and how you can turn talking into an official relationship.
