By Chayyanika Nigam: Porn sharks are watching your live WhatsApp and Skype video calls to upload them on porn sites, sources in the Cyber Cell told Mail Today. Newlyweds and couples in distant relationships are more vulnerable to the spying by porn site operators turned hackers. It has been learnt that the Cyber Cell and other helpline numbers dealing in cases of cyber bullying are receiving complaints about their personal video call conversations being uploaded on porn sites.

Recently, a 25-year-old girl who is about to get married in November, had filed a complaint in the Cyber Cell alleging that her personal video chats with her husband on Skype had been hacked and uploaded on porn sites. "Mentioning all the URLs of the videos, she requested to help her in taking down all the videos," a source in the Cyber Cell said. Speaking to Mail Today, a senior official in the Cyber Cell claimed that there has been a rise in such cases where the people operating the porn sites are watching the users live, recording and uploading them on the porn websites. Analysing the complaints received in the past six months, officials said: "Most of them were related to the videos of couples stripping or masturbating live." Despite the fact that video calling feature on WhatsApp is encrypted, cyber experts warn the users to not opt for video calling as it can easily be monitored and misused by the hackers. Further, these videos are sold to porn sharks. "Video calling can easily be hacked by monitoring the IP addresses of both the users and hackers can see live video chats. Kislay Chaudhary, chairman of NGO Indian Cyber Army, confirmed that live video calling is not safe and is the latest vulnerable area for the hackers. "Such hacking is known as man-in-the-middle-attack. It is very dangerous as the personal content is coming out in public. In many cases, these videos land up on porn sites and if the victim comes to know about it, the consequences become more serious," Chaudhary added.

So, basically there's no way to find out if someone has already hacked your phone and watching your WhatsApp video call. If you follow these precautions, your phone won't get hacked. If your phone is completely safe, then you need not to worry since WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption. So, no one except you will be able to see your video calls," claims cyber experts.
